A place yet not commercialized as other tourist places, Nandi Hills was a place where we got more than just pictures. It was an experience, which made us appreciate nature more .I believe we were able to bring out the colors existing in this hill like another life in our pictures. Kids, as we had mentioned before have always been one of our favourite subjects as there is nothing like capturing the world, most genuine emotions. These pics were taken at a place called Bawana in Delhi, where hundreds of similar kids who are deprived of basic infrastructure and are living in slums are fighting for deams every now and then. Considering their circumstances, there confidence was shocking. ..... I looked at them for a while...they were smiling and playing..when i started thinking..."If they can be happy being there, the what do we have complaints for?"

Well, Could not click a lot of pics this Diwali but as the occasion demands it, and my camera was almost curious to jump out of the bag, i had to do justice to the festival by taking some shots. The diyas were captured right after the evening prayers before i went to place them all around the house..

As Diwali is well known to be the festival of lights, which is not only evident by the fire crackers, but by the mulitcoloured electric bulbs , candles and diyas used to decorate every possible place in an every possible way. An so was the main gate of my society which was tempting me to click it..

Ok..Now this is one of the most intersting ones.While the kid was so glad to play with the fire crackers, he didnt have any idea that he had been breathing nothing but smoke for half an hour...We have tried to bring up the idea of limitizing the spirit of fire crackers in a colorful way through this picture.....

The drums played at the beginning, summoning her to grace us with her presence. And as days went by, it was also time for her to leave, leaving us in an anticipation again for another year. I manged to take some pictures of this lovely and beautiful culture which is celebrated throughout India and is the most awaited festivals of all. These five days of celebaration and prayers not only mark the durga puja, but seeing around you, you would also realize the social aspect of many cultures coming together. Seeing people from different races and paying respect to the goddess makes me wonder at time whether it is the same country where people look for reasons to kill each other. Festivals could be a time for people to ponder a bit about what is happening to the country and have a sense of guilt for what they allowed to happen. Leaving my thoughts on facts, this small experience each year that i go through, seeing Ma Durga leaving us with all the blessings is overwhelming. The sound of the "dakh", the tinkling of the brass, the looks of devotion in everyone's face and the faith with which all pray, leaves us all with a desire to be a better person.

This was taken during one of our visits to an NGO. The composition struck our mind during evening while we saw some rays coming through a raw bricked wall.

Children they have always been our favourite. These smiling faces, still have a smile inspite of what surrounds them. This time we were at a place called Bawana a relocation hub for people who were forced out of their homes in the name of illegal possesion of land. This forced hundreds to be away from any source of income and livelihood. In the midst of misery it is a blessing to see smiling faces reflecting innocence. We were here to capture the educational programmes run by an NGO. Education being an integral part of a child's growth cannot be ignored. What was amazing is the enviornment that they study in, the opportunity that these children have been given inspite of their ill fates. I as an adult always wondered about the funds that are collected in the interest of primary education but while being here i knew that they were not misappropriated for. For all you readers seeing would be beliveing for all conslusions drawn quickly should quickly be forgotten as well. After spending two hours in these make shift classrooms when we walked out it was difficult to accept the reality of the state of people living there. It is commendable to see parents who still miss meals but believe in sending their children to school in neat pair of clothes.

We name it " Expressions For Inspiration" , looking at these ladies and knowing where they come from, this title is suitably acquired by them. Her name is Amba, she is an active participant in a programe functioning with the aid of an NGO called Navjyoti. This initiative is called, Self Help Groups. A concept which is not very easy to implement and takes almost the same patience while raising a child. It is a programe which will give return to the beneficiaries only in a long term. I mention about this because the back bone of this programe was to have the rural women believe that they could also earn and not just run the rat race. This programe was inclined to make these women independant in an effective manner and not just a mere effort. Few years have now passed since the successful implementation and now it is heartening to see rural women earning proceeds , maintaing records of the earnings and adapting themselves to use rural banking system.
The expression of these women is and should be an inspiration to other rural women. Confidence, self esteem and their self respect is what they think now and they have earned it. There is a huge difference in the way they speak, the way they work and also the way they want themselves to be conducted at home. They have made the difference and they want themselves to stay that way.

The picture was take during a meeting that the group had called for. They were happy when they had to be and they were serious when it was needed. Looking at them i thought about the proffesional behaviour that we usually talk about and is advised to practice. In the process we usally land up being some consious freak who is trying to do their best and eventually mess it up.

These women would just talk business .They had one thing in there mind to grow , grow and grow and not look back. Listening to them talk about strategies , money and savings made me stare at them in amazment. From milking cows to being beaten up they have had it and would do nothing to loose their respect anymore.
They live up to the phrase " Girl Power"...
